BIOGRAPHY
Nigel Winterburn was one of Arsenal’s most popular figures during an outstanding career of consistent quality. He spent 13 years at Highbury and each week would form a solid part of George Graham’s legendary defence. At his previous club, Wimbledon, he was player of the year a record four consecutive seasons.
His move to Arsenal saw him recognised as one of the best defenders in the land. Solid as a rock, Nigel was a committed tackler who joined the attack with enthusiasm. He won three championships with Arsenal, as well as three England caps, the European Cup Winners’ Cup, two FA Cups and two League Cups.
