BIOGRAPHY
John Barnes won two league titles, two FA Cups, one League Cup, a PFA Player of the Year award and two Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards while with Liverpool. Barnes was unstoppable between 1987-1990 when he was at the peak of his powers.
In 1984 he scored a wonder goal for England against Brazil in Rio. Despite 79 caps for England he would always be remembered for that remarkable strike, coming just a year after his international debut. A gifted passer with great touch, Barnes converted from the dangerous striker of his Watford days to a cultured midfielder.
