BIOGRAPHY
At Elland Road, Gary McAllister drove Leeds to the League title in 1992 and established himself in the Scottish national side. He captained Scotland in Euro 96 but is unfortunately best remembered for missing a vital penalty in the crucial group clash with the auld enemy England.
Eyebrows were raised when Gerard Houllier captured the classy veteran on a free transfer in 2000, but he proved to be an inspirational signing for Liverpool. He had previously served Motherwell, Leicester City, Leeds and Coventry with distinction, adding two Scottish League titles, the FA, Worthington and UEFA Cups in an outstanding career.
