BIOGRAPHY
Dean Saunders was a prolific striker for Wales, Liverpool, Aston Villa and a host of clubs over a lengthy career. An excellent fininsher with a knack for being in the right place at the right time, Saunders first came to prominence scoring goals at Oxford United.
A move to Derby County was followed by a £2.9 million transfer to Liverpool, where he broke Roger Hunt’s record for most European goals scored in a season and won the FA Cup. ‘Deano’ continued scoring at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Bradford City and for his country, for whom he won 75 caps.
