Based on the smash hit by the same name, Stargate SG-1 has become one of the most popular and longest running science fiction shows in television history.
The series follows the adventures of a top secret Air Force team, SG-1, as they travel through a portal called the Stargate.
In adventures that recapture the magic of the original film, Colonel Jack O'Neil (Richard Dean Anderson) is summoned out of retirement to embark on a secret rescue mission. O'Neil confesses that he disobeyed orders to destroy the Stargate on Planet Abydos, and that his old pal, scientist Daniel Jackson may still be alive. After arriving on Abydos with his other team members, astrophysicist Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), the alien defector Teal'c (Christopher Judge) and General Hammond (Don S. Davis), O'Neil is reunited with Jackson (Michael Shanks). The SG-1 team learns that Jackson has discovered an elaborate cartouche in hieroglyphics that seems to be a map of many Stargates that exist throughout the galaxy. With Jackson's discovery, the SG-1 team can now travel throughout the universe and hopefully save the Earth from total destruction.
Season Eight comes to Sky One on Tuesday 5th October at 8pm.
