Ewan and Charley met on the set of Serpents Kiss in 1997, and have since formed a strong friendship through their mutual passion for motorbikes! After winning the British Superstock in 2000 with Tim Jeffries, the dream of a-round-the-world bike adventure was born. Just before they headed off on their trip we grabbed them for a chat.

You will be really testing yourselves to the limit! Why do you want to do this?

E: We work to allow us the opportunity to live and choose not to work, and this is something that I've always wanted to do, it's a challenge!

C: I would jump at the chance to do anything with motorbikes, its an opportunity to see new interesting places, and it will be us finally living the dream we have had for years.

Where are the places you are looking most forward to seeing?

E: Mongolia and Prague will be the highlights for me.

C: Mongolia, Kazakhstan and the Road of Bones.

And what are the bits you are dreading?

E: Bears! The cold, Siberia and Kazakstan, which we need to find out more about.

C: Coming off the bike, camping, the dark, China, Road of Bones and extreme river crossings.

What about your families?

C: We will definitely miss our wives and children. When we're tired and low our first thoughts will be with our families.

So how do they feel about you leaving on this adventure?

E: When it was just a dream it was like 'yeah, yeah, alright'... then when it was suddenly happening I felt a bit selfish, but now they are right behind us. My daughter Clara doesn't want me to go, but we will phone everyday and she is going to keep a map on her bedroom wall with pins so she can keep track of me.

Do you think you will still be friends at the end?

E: As long as we have each other we will support each other. We don't pussy foot around each other and we've known each other for years, and we're passionate about bikes.

What else will you get out of this trip?

C: The trip will give us the chance to have fun and witness how other people live, and it may also highlight some issues and stories that need telling.

E: Self challenge. We live in such a comfortable and easy time that it doesn't do yourself any harm to go and test yourselves, and survive with just the bare essentials.
