Episode 10: "The Hand of God"

While she is delivering a press conference on the fuel crisis, Laura has hallucinations that snakes are crawling all over her podium. She quickly realises this is a side effect of the experimental cancer drug that she is taking, but she is still deeply shaken.

On a recon mission, Sharon and Crashdown spot an asteroid covered in enough Tylium -- the fuel that the fleet's ships use - to last several years. The only problem is the asteroid is crawling with Cylons who are already mining the fuel for their own use.

Sharon and Crashdown report their findings to Adama. He consults with Lee and Tigh about the situation and ultimately decides that they should try to take the Tylium by force from the Cylons, even though they are outnumbered. Adama thinks the Galactica's poor odds could work to their advantage, as they would catch the Cylon's by surprise.

After learning that all priests have experiences with Chamalla, the experimental drug she is taking to treat her breast cancer, while they are in the seminary, Laura visits a priest, Elosha. She is shocked by Laura's story and tells her about the writer Pythia, who predicted that a president who would lead her people to victory following a series of visions of snakes.

Lee and Adama present their plan of attack to Laura. She compares this to some kids hoping to take down a school bully, but okays the plan.

The Galactica's leaders ask Baltar for advice on how to blow up the Cylons without harming the fuel supply. Baltar is distracted, hallucinating that he is getting a rubdown from Number Six. He points to a spot on the map and instructs them to target it, later revealing to Six it was a random choice.

Adama explains the plan to Kara and invites her contribution to the strategy but she's crushed when Adama tells her that because of her earlier injury, she won't be able to fly in the mission. Instead, Adama sees Lee off to battle, presenting him with a lighter that Adama's father gave him many years ago as a good luck charm.

On Caprica, Cylon Sharon and Helo hide out from the Cylons, and Sharon secretly believes she might be pregnant. She almost gets up the nerve to confess to Helo that she is a Cylon, but she can't at the last minute.

The Galactica begins its mission, sending out decoy ships to distract the Cylons to give them better access to the asteroid and the Cylon base. The Cylons don't take the bait and launch a forceful counter attack against the Galactica's forces. All hell breaks loose, and Adama orders them to pull out. As the ships start to return to the Galactica, the Cylons follow them, leaving the Galactica vulnerable to attack.

Kara had planned for this possibility and unleashes four viper planes that had been hidden in Galactica's docks. As the Cylons approach to attack, it becomes clear that it is the Cylons who have left themselves vulnerable. The vipers attack the Cylon-occupied asteroid. Lee follows Baltar's instructions to attack the specific location he arbitrarily pointed to on the map. It works, though, and the Cylon base is destroyed. The Galactica can claim all of the fuel, and everyone celebrates.

Laura begins to think that the coincidences between the Nostradumus-esque writings of Pythia and her term as president probably have some serious significance.

Number Six encourages Baltar, who believes that with his random gesture to the map, he became an "instrument of God."
