Episode 9: "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down"

Billy and Dualla are on a date on Galactica's observation deck. Even though there is romance, they also feel compelled to drill each other for information to report back to their respective superiors, President Roslin & Gaeta.

Laura and Adama discuss the upcoming population-wide Cylon testing. Secretly mindful of Leoban's warning that Adama is a Cylon, Laura suggests that someone in a high position should volunteer to go first to show solidarity with the people, hinting it should be Adama. Adama agrees, but thinks it should be Laura. They flip a coin; Adama loses and agrees to be tested.

Back from his date, Billy advises Laura that Dualla thinks Adama has also been acting strangely; Laura can't help but wonder if he's a Cylon.

While Gaeta teases Dualla about her date with Billy, the Galactica comes under attack from a surprise Cylon raid. The Galactica lurches into action, but Adams is not to be found. Dualla reveals to Gaeta and Tigh that Adama had taken off an hour earlier, on an unannounced trip without following procedure. No one knows where he's gone.

In the lab, Baltar begins his enormous mission of testing everyone for Cylon-ity, beginning with Adama using his DNA sample.

Adama returns from being AWOL with Ellen, the thought-to-be-lost wife of Colonel Tigh. She had been officially declared missing after the Caprica attack but has mysteriously turned up on a neighbouring civilian ship. Tigh and Ellen have a joyful reunion, drinking and partying and promising each other that they can start anew.

Laura asks Baltar to keep her appraised of Adama's test results. Much to Laura's surprise, Baltar tells her that Adama called in to cancel his test and asked him to perform one on Ellen, a woman Laura does not know.

On Caprica, Cylon Sharon and Helo continue to run from the Cylons who want them dead.

Sharon visits Baltar in his lab. Even though she has been declared human, she still feels strange. Baltar flirts with her heavily. Baltar takes Sharon to the observation deck and continues to hit on her even though he knows she is truly a Cylon.

Adama hosts a dinner party for Laura, Tigh, Ellen, and Lee. Ellen's behaviour is wildly inappropriate; she strokes Lee's thigh under the table, drinks too much and makes bitchy comments to Laura about her political inexperience before becoming President. mAfter the dinner party, Laura, Lee, and Adama discuss Ellen's behaviour. They debate whether or not she is a Cylon, or is just annoying and rude.

Adama, Lee, Laura, Tigh, and Ellen visit Baltar's lab, eager to learn the results of the first big test. Soon, they are all bickering and spilling secrets: Laura wanted Adama tested because she suspected he might be a Cylon; Adama wanted Ellen tested, which angers Tigh & Ellen.

During the commotion, another Cylon attack begins, and Adama and Tigh are called back to duty. Tigh acts quickly and intelligently and nips the Cylon attack in the bud with no damage done. Adama commends him and says it is good to see him happy but is worried about Ellen's influence on Tigh's drinking.

Baltar reveals his test results: Ellen is NOT a Cylon. Number Six, lounging on Baltar's lap, laughs. "If only they knew that everybody passes these days," she says. Baltar responds by saying that declaring somebody a Cylon clearly would cause too much commotion.
