The Crossing
Crewman Novak attacks Adams, a Threshold command guard who's delivering his dinner. The guard sets off an alarm, but the Red Team don't get there in time; Novak has escaped his cell and tries to free the other detainees. Cavennaugh is able to corner the men before they get out of the building; he shoots and injures Novak and Sanford and captures Janklow.
Cavannugh reprimands Adams for not following procedure; Adams was supposed to have another guard present before he approached a detainee. Adams insists there WAS another guard there named Davis. But Cavannaugh has checked the records and security logs, Davis was at home at the time of the incident. Adams is confused and passes out.
Fenway tests Adams' blood; he's been infected. Molly thinks it's possible that Adams was JUST infected by Novak. Fenway thinks he might be able to stop the infection process since they have caught it so early. They wonder if Adam's hallucinated Davis being with him.
Whitaker asks Molly why the prisoners are kept in such an insecure location in the middle of WDC. Molly and Baylock explain that they've been building an ultra-secure facility in the West Virginia mountains called The Tank, but it's 2 weeks from being completed. Whitaker instructs Molly to take the prisoners to the few cells of The Tank that have been completed. Molly agrees to move all of them except Libby (who is pregnant) and Gunneson, who is still comatose and vulnerable. Molly and Whitaker argue about how to move the prisoners: Molly wants to move them 1 at a time using different routes, but Whitaker insists they should all be moved at once. She's forced to concede.
Ramsey reveals to Lucas that he was a good friend of Adams,' they used to play poker when Adams was guarding Ramsey’s hotel room.
Molly tells Adams that he's been infected and explains the truth about Threshold. She asks Adams to help them: if he can relay details of what his transformation feels like as his infection worsens, they can use that info to help other infectees. Adams agrees to help, but asks them to kill him if he turns into a complete alien. Molly insists it won't come to that, but she agrees to his wishes.
Fenway's shocked that Molly agreed to this: what if he finds a cure for the infection in a few months or something? Molly will deal with it.
Molly is attacked at home by her water-delivery man, Carl. She's able to stun him before he can hurt her, but she's traumatized: who is this person and how did he get past her Threshold body guards parked across the street, who have seemingly vanished?
Cavennaugh and Med Techs show up at Molly's house. Cavennaugh reports that the 2 Threshold guards were found badly beaten near the car. A med tech reports that the water-delivery guy, Carl, was not infected – in fact, the stun shell that Molly fired at him didn't just stun him – it killed him.
Ramsey visits Adams in the medical lab and jokes about gambling on football games.
Molly and Cavennaugh research Carl; he was a Navy veteran who previously served under Captain Alex Manning, the still-missing Captain of the Big Horn. Cavennaugh rationalizes that Carl must have been running errands for his old boss.
Cavennaugh briefs the team on the process for transporting the detainees The Tank. Each infectee will each be sedated, put in the new restraints that Lucas has built with his assistant, Chris Roberts, put into one of 3 armoured vehicles, then driven to the tank
At a distant location, Captain Manning receives word from another Big Horn veteran, Crewman Pena – the detainees are being moved. Manning sits amongst weapons and a group of mercenaries. Manning replies that they will "intercept them as planned."
Molly interviews Adams about his condition; he's started having the glass forest dreams.
Cavennaugh and Agent Hayes are driving one of the armored cars and detainees when they are attacked by mortar fire. Some of Manning's mercenaries run into the truck as Cavennaugh and Hayes engage in a fire fight and inject the detainees with some kind of stimulant.
During the shoot out, Agent Hayes is captured by a mercenary.
Cavennaugh is able to hold Manning off until backup soldiers arrive via helicopters, at which point Manning aborts the mission and flees – taking Hayes with him. Cavennaugh and the soldiers are able to re-sedate the prisoners.
Threshold command. Cavennaugh argues with Whitaker; Cavennaugh wants to start to lead the charge to find agent Hayes, but Whitaker wants him to go to The Tank and help set it up. Finally, Baylock quietly steps in and tells Cavennaugh to go find Hayes. Baylock looked at Cavennaugh's personal files, Agent Hayes happens to be Cavennaugh's brother.
Cavennaugh interviews one of Manning's human mercenaries; Manning has been holing up at a cannery outside of D.C. Cavennaugh tells Baylock he wants to deploy a full tactical squad to invade the hideout.
Molly finds Ramsey in a local bar, getting drunk. Ramsey is depressed that his friend Adams is mutating – meaning Molly will have to kill him, per their deal. She needs him at Threshold to help investigate Manning's intricate financial dealings Cayman Islands accounts.
Lucas talks with Baylock about how the restraints he built for the detainees failed during the sneak attack. Lucas says that the restraints were finalized by his assistant Chris Roberts. The only problem is, Baylock has never heard of Roberts. Lucas gestures to Roberts, but Baylock can't see him. Roberts is a hallucination that Lucas has dreamt up.
Lucas panics; he can see Roberts sitting right in front of him, telling him to ignore Baylock. Baylock and Ramsey, though, are telling Lucas he should get to sick bay asap. Lucas is freaked.
Cavennaugh and some tactical agents raid the cannery where Manning is supposed to be hiding out. There is nobody left in the cannery, but they do find agent Hayes' bloodied name tag.
Molly is about to inject Adams with a chemical to kill him. Ramsey shows up; he thinks Adams should be killed by a friend; he'll do it and injects Adams.
Cavennaugh gets the results back from Hayes' bloodied ID; Hayes has been infected.
Molly relieves Lucas from duty – his hallucinations mean he is becoming a liability to the team. They're going to keep him under watch.
Fenway gets one more set of results – he discovers that Adams became infected through something he ate. The aliens have infected the food supply.
