In 1993, American law enforcement officials, launched one of the biggest fiascos in US legal history – to the bizarre backdrop of Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made for Walking. It might have been funny – if 86 people hadn’t died, including twenty-five children.

But was the Waco a legitimate operation against child-molesting gun-runners – or a heavy-handed massacre of deluded innocents obsessed with the Book of Revelation? Danny Wallace has been back to Texas to talk to some of those involved – and to ask whether the Waco slaughter was really necessary.
